A UVA Health System study revealed that ChatGPT-4 achieved 90% diagnostic accuracy in complex medical cases, outperforming physicians working alone (74%) or with AI assistance (76%). Despite this, many doctors treated the AI like a search engine rather than a diagnostic partner and often dismissed its suggestions when they conflicted with their initial judgments.
The findings challenge the assumption that AI should merely assist physicians, highlighting the need for better integration and training to maximize its potential. With consistent results across experience levels, the study suggests rethinking how AI is used in medical practice to improve patient outcomes.

Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman announced prototypes with "near-infinite memory," a breakthrough enabling AI to retain knowledge across unlimited sessions. Expected by 2025, this technology aims to evolve AI from reactive chatbots to proactive companions, offering deeper, ongoing dialogues rather than shallow interactions.
Suleyman calls memory the "inflection point" of AI, paving the way for systems that build lasting relationships and better understand users’ needs. If successful, this innovation could transform how people engage with AI, setting a new standard for meaningful, personalized interactions.

Scientists at Arc Research Institute unveiled Evo, an AI trained on 2.7 million microbial genomes that interprets and generates genetic sequences with unmatched precision. Unlike traditional models, Evo learns from DNA, RNA, and proteins, enabling it to design genetic editing tools and predict the effects of DNA changes on bacteria.
Evo can even create genome-length sequences over 1 million base pairs long, though these aren’t yet viable for forming organisms. While the potential for drug development and disease prediction is immense, Evo’s capabilities highlight the urgent need for responsible oversight in handling tools that can write genetic code with such ease.
