Microsoft has signed a 20-year deal with Constellation Energy to reopen Pennsylvania's Three Mile Island nuclear plant, providing carbon-free power for its data centers and AI operations. This move highlights the growing energy needs of AI and the push for sustainable power sources.
Set to reopen as the ‘Crane Clean Energy Center’ in 2028, the deal aligns with tech industry trends like Bill Gates’ investment in nuclear energy. By tapping into nuclear power, Microsoft is positioning itself to meet AI's rising demands while reducing its carbon footprint.

Google has launched the Open Buildings 2.5D Temporal Dataset, an AI tool that tracks building changes across Africa, Latin America, and South/Southeast Asia from 2016 to 2023. The dataset covers 32 million square miles and uses satellite imagery to estimate building presence, counts, and heights.
This tool aims to support urban planning, crisis response, and environmental studies in regions lacking updated infrastructure data. Despite some limitations, like cloud coverage interference, Google’s innovation demonstrates how AI can address real-world challenges and improve city planning.

Sky, formerly MakerDAO, may pause its plan to remove wrapped bitcoin (WBTC) as collateral after an influential advisor, BA Labs, reviewed new custody arrangements. WBTC, used for DeFi lending, had sparked concerns after a shift in custody from BitGo to a partnership with Tron’s Justin Sun. However, recent clarity on the custody setup eased those worries.
With WBTC collateral exposure dropping to $170 million and lower risks, BA Labs now recommends delaying the offboarding process. Meanwhile, competitors are stepping up with alternative wrapped bitcoin tokens, such as Coinbase's cbBTC and Threshold's tBTC.
